About Sensational Seniors

Our Story

Sensational Seniors™ Workshops was founded by Andriana Mendez, co-owner of Custom Moving & Hauling, after a sudden and traumatic scare with her mom that changed everything about her life. After a long journey of resilience, not only from her mom – but also Andriana and her family, her mom regained her independence.

With that experience came many lessons learned and the awakening of open conversations around growing older that were previously just whispers. To Andriana, the desire to support families going through a crisis with an older loved one, and to provide proactive senior resources became more important than ever. Digging through her connections to expert and caring colleagues in the senior serving industry, she was driven to facilitate widespread education focusing on healthy, happy aging. Thus, Sensational Seniors Workshops was born.

Andriana has leveraged her business network and background in marketing, design, event management, and downsizing expertise to create on-going quality programs throughout the East Bay. The workshops aim to create a sense of belonging in the community for those who attend, as well as providing a platform for celebrating life at all phases. Thus, all sandwich generation members, adult children, retirees, empty-nesters, and older adults from all walks of life are welcome.

Andriana is currently a Board member of the Bay Area National Aging in Place Council and the East Bay Veterans Community Partnership. Additionally, she is a part of the “sandwich generation,” which gives her compassion for those who deeply love their parents while also trying to nurture a family of their own.

With a busy family business, Custom Moving & Hauling, Andriana and her husband Art specialize in helping seniors to declutter, organize, and downsize (also known as RIGHTSIZE) their home. As Certified Senior Move Managers®, they have helped hundreds of families to successfully transition to new homes and senior living in and around the San Francisco Bay Area. They do this by providing tips and tricks for preparing for a move ahead of time, as well as move management, packing, donating, moving, and hauling services.

With a blended family of six plus their two little red dogs, Andriana and Art spend their spare time watching kids at sports, walking around their quiet neighborhood, kayaking Northern California lakes, trying out new restaurants, and traveling whenever possible.
